Rob and Rob #1:

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein

Hi and welcome to our opening blog, each month we will pick and discuss our recommended horror movie for the month, and this month for September 2016 we have chosen Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, on TCM, September 14, at 9:30pm est.  Let me introduce myself, my name is Rob Medaska Jr., I have been acting and directing theater, films and tv programs locally in NYC for over 20 years.  And I am Rob Medaska III, I am seven years old and have been into horror movies for as long as my dad as allowed me to watch them.

A&C Meet Frankenstein for me, is without a doubt the greatest horror comedy ever made.  It has all the elements for a great movie. A plethora of stars such as A&C, Lon Chaney Jr. and Bela Lugosi.  As well as some fantastic makeup and sets, great transformations….And the 3 greatest horror film monsters of all time.  Universal horror monsters will be around with the cockroaches when all is said and done on this planet.  I think the movie is great because I love Lon Chaney and the wolf man, he is a scary good time to me.

The film has great beginning, foggy London with Lon Chaney all set to reveal the plot of the film,  “Your very silly to call all this way to have me speak to your dog.”  And what better brain to put in the Frankenstein monster, than that of Lou Costello, it is a match made in heaven.  As well, it is the only the 3rd time ever that Bela Lugosi wears his now legendary Dracula outfit (2nd time for those not familiar was a short in which he states to Betty Boop…”You have booped your last boop”)   Simply awesome.

I like the way Costello is always scared and running from the monsters, I would be like you guys are awesome, I would love to have you come over and play with me in my basement.    I have all your figures, which you can see on our web series Classic Movies and More.  It would be awesome to watch your movies with you guys right here.

Rob likes to get carried away sometimes, so anyway back to the film.  The film has a good pacing and introduces us to some new talent for the time (Jane Randolph and Charles Bradstreet).  The sets are Universal great and the makeup, led by Bud Westmore, are fitting for the locale.  However, imho there will never be another makeup genius like Jack Pierce, you can check out a YouTube video on him here.

Any closing thoughts Rob?

Yes everyone must tune in to watch this movie on September 14, because it is just awesome.

Well put, for Rob this is Rob  for September Horror pics from….Rob and Rob.  See you next month, if you dare……
